One name seems to have left out: Avi Schwartz. All I did was to assembly the instructions Gavreil and Ave gave me. JLK On Sun, 23 Apr 2000, you wrote:
I just finished installing wpo2k on my SuSE Linux 6.4 system. It was rather painful. Fortunately one Jerry Kreps had taken the time and made the effort to get this working a few weeks ago. His posts of the solution were invaluable in setting this up. Jerry, in turn, gave much credit to one Gavriel State for untangling this. I came to this NG hoping to find out if there were bug fixes and the like for wpo2k. This is one of the first messages I saw.
I must say, the spirit of this thread seem to be contrary to the spirit of GNU/Linux. The pathological insensitivity of ranting about and condemning the hard work of programmers who have spent an entire year trying to do what no one else has done in the Linux world is just plain wrong. The spirit of Linux is to help the programmer solve the problems rather than condemning him or her.
I strongly believe wine is a good thing for the computer industry. I'm glad Corel has done this. I have already hit a few snags in running wpo2k, but its my goal to report the problems and try to help resolve them. I've been keeping an eye on wine for two years now. It has come a long way. It isn't "there" yet, but it's getting there.
I've seen one company shove their inferior products down the throat of the consumer since the early '90s. One of the losers in this monopolistic bullying was WordPerfect. Another was Borland. In the last month I've purchased JBuilder Pro for win32-linux-solaris, and wpo2k for Linux. I own both MS w2k and win98. I prefer to work in a Linux environment. Two of the greatest experiences I had with computers in the last month were when I clicked on the "classic" IDE color option in JBuilder, and when I clicked on "Reveal Codes" in WordPerfect. These are the products that got me through my college degree, and I prefer them to MS alternatives.
Thanks Corel!!!!!
