Rod: here is a reason why your smbmount command doesn't work. | smbmount //192.168.244.xxx/c /thes I believe it is because of the space between /c and /thes. Another thing which you may want to consider. When sharing a folder on a Windows machine, you need not specify the hard drive letter unless it is the entire hard drive itself you are sharing on the windows machine. For instance If I were to allow on my windows machine the c:\shared directory (folder) to be shared, I can set a username and password for it as well. Then on the linux box to mount the shared windows folder I would type: mbmount //192.168.244.xxx/shared /thes | If I try `smbmount //Thespia/c /thes', I get the response `Thespia: | unknown host' You have to specify an entry in /etc/hosts so that your linux system will be able to resolve the server name to an ip address such as: 192.168.244.xxx Thespia Otherwise your system has no way to query a DNS server to resolve the Thespia name to an ip address. Hope this helps!
