There are certain rules one is supposed to follow (they're called RFC's) when setting up certain services... Some of these rules specify what types of resource records must be used when designating servers as name server (NS) or mail exchangers (MX). The host names of NS and MX hosts are supposed to have address (A) records associated with them... in this case, they have pointed an MX entry to a hostname that is an alias (CNAME) for another host. This is technically illegal, and many name servers (if setup properly) will reject this entry. The second set of entries is for a bad referral... your name server will get referrals to other name servers (usually starting from root level servers) when trying to resolve hosts outside of your domain. Basically, it looks like you hit a bad name server somewhere. - Herman On Mon, 17 Apr 2000, Avi Schwartz wrote: ->>I am currently running caching only DNS.
