At this point I may have to agree, there is very very little explanation outside that which is in the actual script. basically it's 'yes' 'no' allow this dont' allow that. which is simple but when it doesnt' work it doesnt' allow much room. Have you found a way around this. ? Rowan [TSS] Gerber Scientific Products http://www.gspinc.com

Hi,
Documentation woes:-
** I installed the firewall package from the 6.3CD ** over teh weekend. I'm not sure if it works. HTTP ** works fine, however this is going through the squid ** xy which has been performing flawlessly. I cannot however ** go outside on teh net, via, ping, tracerout, ftp or anything else. ** I have my local network as a trusted network and my machine has access ** to everything. when I ping say www.linux.org it resolves the domain name ** (i am guessing through squid not sure.) but it says address unreachable. ** the address range for my local net is 192.168.0.0 and my Inet address is ** assigned dynamically by my IP. I'm also using a dial up. any ideas ??
I have had exactly the same problems and find it's more due to bad documentation in the firewall config scripts! Personally I think there should be a proper FAQ and some help and sample configurations for this like the IPfw package with OpenBSD.
Thanks
Chris
