Hi Bernie, . . .
I hope this is useful and interesting.
I notice, by the way, that your "Sender" address is
bernie@owen.mcc.ac.uk
which means that you and I are probably not 100 miles apart! However, I can't trace "Bernie Gardner" on the MCC user database, nor "owen.mcc.ac.uk". There is, however, a user "b.m.gardner@stud.man.ac.uk" -- might this be your son?
And I'm not finding anything related to either of your addresses on the Manchester Linux User Group mailing list man-lug@mcc.ac.uk nor the Manchester-hosted general Linux list linux-users@mcc.ac.uk so I'd like to ask if you'd be interested in joining up with local Linux users. (Open house and no subs ... ).
Best wishes, Ted.
Thanks Ted. The example files look great. I downloaded the MUP binary and it converted your sample file very easily. I'm actually farther from you than you think, near Boston Massachusetts to be precise. I have no idea how that sender address got into your message from me. Owen is the host name of my laptop, but it's certainly never been in the mcc.ac.uk domain. I move it between home and work and change the network settings accordingly, but owen is always the host name. I'm sending this reply to the suse-e list in case someone on the list can explain this behavior. I am using xfmail to access the pop/smtp mail server of my cable company's isp. I'm not even sure why owen is being sent out. Other than confusing people trying to locate me, I guess there's no harm done, but I worry about appearing to be spoofing an incorrect address (I'm really not trying to do that...) Bernie
