In one of my PC's I had a Seagate Medalist as IDE-0 but now it's lying on top of my desk as a paperweight (not kidding!). One day it just died on me without warning. My older disk, a Maxtor Diamondmax Plus, on the other hand is still performing without a hitch. I bought another one of those to replace the Seagate and my other PC is also equiped with a Maxtor. The newer ones are also much quieter. After reading Kevin Jackson's reply I'm even more suspicious about Seagate. Personally I'd go for a Maxtor (the Plus series) and if they didn't have those I'd spend my hardearned cash on an IBM. On Thu, 13 Apr 2000, you wrote:
I need to add a hard drive to a machine, and a local computer store has a good price on some Fujitsu hard drives.
I'm kind of a brand conscious consumer though, and wonder what kind of reputation this brand has for reliability.
Another store has a good price on some Seagate drives; a little bit more expensive, but not by much.
Which has the better reputation?
(When I can order what I want, I lean towards IBM or Quantumm. Down here (Panama) I tend to have to buy whatever is available.)
Thanks in advance
