Well, for stubborn processes, I use "kill -9 {process id}".
For zombie processes... I'm honestly not sure. I have not had the opportunity to try to kill the undead, but I hear cremation works well. ;-)
;-) As far as i'm aware, zombie processes only disappear once their parent process has terminated. For example, that zombie netscape process that can't be killed will disappear when you kill the running parent netscape process.
