Hi, I'm risking a stupid question again, but i'll do it anyway: To automatically start a proces I have 2 options: 1.) Make a start script, put it in /etc/rc.d and make a Sxx and Kxx link to it in the /etc/rc.d/rcx.d directory of each runlevel in which I want the process to be started. 2.) Include a line in /etc/inittab; like q:2345:once:/usr/local/squid/bin/squid I think the second option is much easier to do, so why is every Unix/Linux using moslty the first option? What am I missing?
