First I want to thank you all for the valuable information and advice you provide on this list which I have been reading for some months with a lot of profit.
My questions are : I have some CDs vith technical data and some CD catalogues of electronic components. Most of them are designed to work under M$ win(something) I'd like to use them with my SuSe 6.2 . I read some mails about "Wine" in january, on this list. -Do you think such a thing as "Wine" should be necessary ? -And if so , How much room would be required to install it on my HD ? -It would be more convenient for me to install it in /opt would it be possible ?
You need to be a bit of an expert to deal with Wine. It's still very much alpha, and probably will be for years yet. Go to http://www.winehq.com and get the latest source and compile it for yourself. I'm not sure how much space you'll need, but it's very big, and takes a long time to compile (hours on my P166). Once you've got it in place you'll need to configure it. This is fiddly and prone to errors. Once that's done, it might do what you want. I'd guess you have a 50/50 chance. Or you could install vmware if your machine is up to it. That was the option I took, and it's a lot better than Wine! -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
