John Grant
Strn will take an arbitrary bunch of newsgroups and display them as one newsgroup. For example, the definition of my virtual "nix" group is:
[...]
Strn displays these all as if they were one group called "Nix". Does gnus do something similar?
Gnus does something very similar. Virtual groups combine any number of groups based on regexps of the group names.
Believe me, I'm used to work and tuning! It can't possibly be any MORE difficult to set up than strn. A good manual would be a nice feature over strn too.
There is a fairly extensive manual in info format, and a lively mailing
list. Gnus is under active development.
Fair warning: gnus is a function of [x]emacs. If you're comfortable with
the emacs way of doing things you'll probably find gnus pretty comfortable
too. If you hate emacs, you probably won't care for gnus either...
