Hi,
How do I add records to a NIS-server; I don't think I can continue to add users with useradd etc.?

Hello Sander! "useradd" is actually not too wrong, but you have to run it on the NIS master server, of course. The only thing is: find out if you NIS Makefile uses the source files like "passwd" or "group" from their original locations, or if there is something like a "/var/yp/src"-directory, where the map sources are. In any case, it is the SOURCES which have to be changed. If the original files are used, it is alright, if not, the original files are not used in any way for creating the NIS database maps. So, taken that the sources are separate from the original files, which is USUALLY THE CASE, simply edit the "passwd" and/or "group" file for adding a new user. After that, you have to rebuild the NIS maps, using the "make" command in "/var/yp". The maps are then created and automatically pushed to possible NIS slave servers Don't forget of course to create a home directory for the user, too!
