I have a 386DX, 4meg ram, (1)200megHD, (1)120megHD, (1)3Com NIC. I connect to my ISP via modem (wvdial - will be switching to diald.dod). I'm running a way-minimal install of SuSE 6.2. I setup a 64meg swap partition. This is my first Linux install (at home) so I just wanted to start with a *simple* project. So, for starters I want this machine as a firewall / masq box between my win95 box (soon to be converted to SuSE) and the internet. I seem to have everything working (I can ping, telnet, ftp thru my firewall) EXCEPT: 1) nothing is reaching my internet browser(IE 5.0) - it just says "Website found, waiting for reply" then times out and 2) I can't send email (but I CAN receive email). I thought my problem was that my IPCHAINS were too restrictive so I did a test and told ipchains to accept everything (both ways) for INPUT, OUTPUT and FORWARD. That did not fix my problem. Does anyone have a suggestion as to any other things I can try to debug?
