Actually i know that beos is not linux, the new beos runs on the same partitions as windows or linux now. it has to be run and installed from in either linux or windows not a solo operating system now, well it is solo when you run it but you cannot install it to an empty hard drive anymore... look at the url`s i added to my post it shows you the downloads that it runs on ftp://ftp.be.com/pub/beos/BeOS5-DevTools.zip ftp://ftp.be.com/pub/beos/BeOS4Linux.tar.gz ftp://ftp.be.com/pub/beos/BeOS5-PersonalEdition.exe for example you cant from what i understand about how beos said you cant just boot into it, you have to access it from an icon on the windows desktop, or boot into linux then launch it and it will reboot your system and beos will be running. to get out of beos you then have to reboot your system to return to previous operating system. http://www.be.com/products/freebeos/beos5readme.html heres the details about the new beos. i just read it and made a mistake. you can boot into it from either windows or a boot floppy.. BeOS is not Linux. It is a different operating system that was developed mainly to do multimedia work. Be Inc. has just decided to make their latest version available for free to non-commercial users.
