Hello, 1. I get no error messages of any kind. 2. There are no error messages in /var/log/messages. I do get connect from: but nothing else. 3. I show no ftpd running using ps -ef but I check another system that is setup the same way and there is also no ftpd running. When I ftp to the server, I do get a login but after I enter the login name and password, I get login incorrect an d login failed. The same logins work correctly for telnet. 4. I have not changed anything in shells or ftpusers. 5. The only change that was made was the ip address was changed and the default gateway was change and then the system was shipped to our California office. Craig

Hello,
I have an ftp server that was allowing logins to ftp but now will not allow any logins.
Telnet works correctly but the same login to ftp is denied.
I think we need some more info: - Do you get any error messages? - What does /var/log/messages say when you try to connect to FTP? - Is ftpd running or has it died? - What ftpd har you running (wu.ftpd, proftpd) - Have you done anything to /etc/shells /etc/ftpusers? - What did you do (or any other administrator at your site) just before ftpd stopped working? ---J.T.U. /==================================================================\ | Jon Trygve Utne |e-mail: jont@ii.uib.no | | Department of Informatics | Jon.Utne@mi.uib.no | | University of Bergen, Norway | Jon.Utne@student.uib.no | | Tlf(work) +47 55 58 82 95 |"Smith & Wesson: The original| | URL: http://www.ii.uib.no/~jont | point and click interface" | \==================================================================/ -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
