Thanks for your reply. I made the change in .pinerc and I was able to get netscape to load the url (I looked at your website! you have a nice bike!!!) but I had to have netscape already running for it to work. The strange thing is that I have another host where this isn't necessary??? What is w3m? I don't have it on my system. Gerry On Sun, 26 Mar 2000, Lenz Grimmer wrote:

I have selected the option for URL's to be selected for viewing and I have put in the full path name of netscape to use as the viewer.
OK, I hit enter once the URL is highlighted and am asked if I want to view the URL. I answer yes and netscape starts. However, it doesn't go to the URL. It just comes up and sits there.
Was I supposed to have added some paramter after the full path to netscape??? Right now I just have /opt/netscape/netscape.
Put _URL_ behind this, and it should work.
This is what I have in my .pinerc:
# List of programs to open Internet URLs (e.g. http or ftp references). url-viewers=_TEST("test -n '${DISPLAY}'")_ "/usr/X11R6/bin/Netscape -raise -remote 'openURL('_URL_')'", "/usr/bin/w3m _URL_"
This one checks, if I run X (DISPLAY variable is set) and tells the already running Netscape to open the URL. When in text mode, it runs w3m (which is much better than lynx IMHO).
Bye, LenZ
