*This message was transferred with a trial version of CommuniGate(tm) Pro* This will update your system, but I don't know that it will says SuSE 6.3 when your done Anyways here you go -Start yast -Select "Adjustments of Installation" -Select "Select installation medium" -Select "Installation from an FTP site" Then it will pull up the FTP information. It should already have the SuSE ftp infromation in there -Press "F10" and it will connnect to the FTP site and get some information. Be patient because this can take a minute, espically if you have a slow connection. After it's done getting the infrormation from the FTP server it will bring you back to the Select Installation Medium screen. Click "ESC" to go back to the main menu screen. -Select "Update System" It will probally pop up a confrimation screen that says your base system is up to date. -Select "Continue" It will then probally pull up a screen that says you have some software that there are no packages for. But go ahead and choose "Continue" Then you will get a screen that asks you if you want to install only newer packages. I would select that or you could be there a day donwloading. -Now it pulls up a list of software that it's going to update. Select "F10" for OK, and then select "Yes" to start the update. -Kick back grab a snack tell it's done. Hope that works out ok for you. Just to let you know I've setup a basic linux site. I'd appreciate if you could take a look and tell me what you think. It's at: www.setuplinux.com Keith Darrell Nobles wrote:
*This message was transferred with a trial version of CommuniGate(tm) Pro* I have a quick question- that you may be able to answer- or direct me to a page- I have 6.2 SuSe- how do I update it to 6.3 via ftp ? I am looking at the documentation to see if there is a process. I am running Win 98 and have 6.2 on the single cd (publishers edition-Learning Linux). I want to install Linux- for its speed and stability, and learning new OS. Thanks Darrell

It's just like doing a regular update. It's actually pretty slick. I did it this morning and worked without any problems. But it took a half hour and I have a DS-3 connection.
Good Luck
