Thanks for the tip, I checked and it wasn't loaded but it was available on my system (SuSE6.3). I insmod'ed it and it works fine. What do I do to make it load automatically when starting masquerading? Bernie Gardner On 23-Mar-00 Jeffrey L . Taylor wrote:
You need the ip_masq_ftp module. It was inadvertently left off SuSE 6.1. You can get it from the SuSE FTP site. I don't know about other versions. Do an lsmod and look for it.

: I have had masquerading set up on my desktop computer for several months and it has seemed to work fine in connecting my laptop to the cable modem connection for email, and www. I just tried to ftp from the laptop however and it doesn't work properly. I'm able to log into the remote site ok, but if I give a 'ls' command to check the directory there is an immediate "200 PORT command successful" response then nothing happens for a minute or two, then this message appears:
425 Can't build data connection: No route to host
I have to confess that while I've had the masquerade working for a while, I'm pretty much a novice in masquerading and would appreciate a little advice.
