Hi,
I am trying to set up an application that needs to have an entry in inetd and the services file, but when I try to telnet to the port either on the local machine or a client, I get 'Connection Closed by foreign host.
I have all but eliminate the application as it runs all the other commands. I have also removed any reference to it in inetd and replaced it with 'echo', but I am still getting the problem
This does not work..
[inetd.conf]
2401 stream tcp nowait root /bin/echo echo hello
Any ideas?
Cheers
Phil
The last two words should be (I think) between '()', like: 2401 stream tcp nowait root /bin/echo (echo hello) ..or maybe 'echo hello', I'm not sure. The main point I'm trying to make here is that 'echo' and 'hello' are beeing seen by inetd as two seperate parameters, while it should be one (you just want to echo 'Hello', not DO 'echo' and DO 'hello'). Maybe that helps?
