Hi,
Is there a simple way to restart inetd other than killing all the processes or rebooting? I am sure it is something simple...
/sbin/init.d/inetd stop, then start. I'm not at my linux box at the moment so that may not be entirely right. For a personal machine you can also kill inetd and then just run it again. Also, you could probably do telinit 1 to go to run level 1, then telinit 2 (or 3) to go back to run level 2 or 3.
