Now that rings a bell! My daughter took an "intro to computers" course last year in college. You are right: the textbooks and lesson plans were all geared to M$ Office97. So, we bought her a version. (Since the class covered Access as well as Word, Excel, etc., a student version wouldn't work.) What makes it funny (except that I'm paying tuition for this fiasco) is that when she got to class, all the computers were Macs!! The books were totally worthless... you ever try to "right click" on a Mac mouse?? Fortunately, my daughter had a Mac in her apartment, so she got an A in the course, since she was one of the few who could do all the lab exercises!! (My son, on the other hand is SuSE Linux all the way!! He ended up having to help the college folks hook all the students' computers to the dorm LAN. Even though a freshman, he knew how; they didn't -- because of his Linux experience!)
