I just finished installing SuSE 6.3 (YAST2 made the process quite painless) on my buddy's Digital HiNote VP 725. The only problem we're having is the network card - a 3Com 3c589D. The card is on the SuSE HCL, yet it doesn't seem to work. The other PC card my friend has is an Adaptec APA-1480 SlimSCSI attached to a CD-ROM burner, a scanner, and a hard drive. SuSE is seeing all of the hardware attached to it Interestingly, on boot-up, I only get a message that SuSE is initializing the slot with the SCSI card (slot 0), yet it seems to be unloading the module for same on shutdown. Could it be that the SCSI card is taking over the PCMCIA system? If the SCSI is slot 0, it would follow that the NIC is slot 1 and it's apparently not being initialized on startup. It is also worth noting that we previously did a NETWORK install of SuSE 6.3 using the identical configuration - the only difference was we pointed YaST to my school's FTP server (very quick :) and it installed fine. We just ran out of disk space at the end. :( As always, any help would be appreciated. Thanks. -- ____________________ Joseph A.
