Reiser is going to be available in 6.4 as an option. Reiser is now available with a few steps (Patch) in 6.3 It is corect to say that the FS will handle large amounts of files, faster, like mail-news or a large diectory of data-files. While I cannot give exact stats I plan to have these available in the next few weeks. I have been told there is not a performance hit in Large files, meaning the gain is definatley in small files but you do not lose out in other areas, rather performance is comparible. Saying that Reiser will replace ex2 is not correct because there are 5 "flavors" of Journaling File Systems Being developed that I know of. Reiser however is the most popular in SuSE circles and development is close to us. I plan to have data for mail, News, Oracle, and Apache available as I stated before. This data might not be "official" However, it might help answer these questions that are occuring rather frequently. Regards; Jon ______________________ Jon R. Doyle SuSE Inc.
