('x-unknown' encoding is not supported, stored as-is) I have been trying to reinstall SuSE 6.2 and have run into a little difficulty. I am able to perform all of the upgrades, and recompile the latest kernel. I then setup a firwall and masquerading. Unfortunately, when I reboot masquerading and firewalling fail to start. The error message says that firewalling and masquerade support is not enabled in the kernel, but I have compiled it in. Unfortunately, this somehow causes my NIC cards to not work. They are configured correctly, and are activated, but refuse to function. I have checked the kernel again, and firewalling and masquerading is compiled in. I have run there is a modules.dep file in /lib/modules/2.2.14, but I keep getting a message in /var/log/messages that says the modprobe cannot open modules.dep because it does not exist. I have been able to configure this in the past with no problems, and cannot understand why it fails now. Can anyone please help?
