Hi, A few months ago I upgraded a computer from 6.1 to 6.2 installing from a removable disk (Syquest Syjet), with no problems that I recall. Now a colleague whose cdrom is broken and temporarily who has no ethernet connection (due to construction) asked me to upgrade from 6.1 to 6.3. But I'm having problems. I try to install from a partition, call it sde1. It contains /suse/setup, /suse/images, etc., all the files for a minimal installation. So far as I can tell the handbook for 6.3 is materially the same as for 6.2 where Yast1 is concerned. Yast 1.03 finds /etc/fstab on sda1, and mounts partition to /var/adm/mount. It doesn't complain when I tell it where to find suse. (If I delete some files such as suse/setup/descr, then it does complain, so it's reading something.) But it always says that there is nothing to upgrade because installation is newer than medium. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? jim bennett -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
