Forgive me for asking a newbie question, but that is what I am.... I am using the 6.3 distro with a slightly modified kernel for PPTP and IPSEC for VPN Masquerading. I am trying to get the box that runs this configuration to allow packets through for VPN using the rc.firewall setup from http://www.suse.de/~marc , his version 2.0. I notice that I can't get the VPN to work, nor can I get Quake packets through when setting this rc.firewall script up like I think that it should be. If I set ipchains rules like that shown in the VPN HOWTO and override what is done in the firewall scripts, I can get VPN MASQ to work, but I can't get things like the DHCP server to hand out IP configurations. I am looking to just set the firwall up so that it is wide open at first, and everything just works, and then squeezing it closed, but I don't seem to be able to get to the wide open operation. Should I be using the firewall scripts at all or should I just use my own ipchains rules? Thanks in advance!
