I am a total Linux newbie so please excuse me if this is a stupid question. I installed 6.3 for the first time on the weekend. I can't express how awesome I think it is! That aside, I'm having a problem with the Enlightenment windows manager. The problem? I get no sound. Whenever I try to play any sounds in Enlightenment I get some error (I forget what it is). When I try typing in esd & at a prompt (without XFree running) it goes through all of the possible modes and then tells me "sound device inadequate for Esound." I have read through most of the documentation on the esd web site and all of the dependencies needed for esd are installed. Sound works fine under KDE, however I have not yet tried any of the other windows managers. I have an Aureal Vortex PCI card and have downloaded/installed the registered OSS drivers for my card. I would like to get this resolved for two reasons. One, it bugs me knowing that something isn't working right. And second, I kinda prefer Enlightenment over KDE. KDE is great but almost too Windos-ish for me. If anyone has ever had any experiences like this please let me know.
