By sheer luck I put it in the middle (bank 1) slot, and later discovered in the Tyan manual just what you said. The bank 2 slot was hard to get at because of the nearby cables, and the bank slot was easiest. I suspect that if I had mistakenly put the memory in bank 0, the symptoms would have been spectacular. By the way, I've run memtest86 on the entire 128MB for a few hours without any errors.
