There's an entry in the SDB called "Notebook hangs when starting the PCMCIA services" which sounds exactly like my problem. Only the solution doesn't apply :-( If I disable PCMCIA during startup and load the modules by hand, I can see that pcmcia_core loads OK, but the system hangs when loading the i82365 module. Does anybody have an idea as to why? Will I have to rebuild the kernel, or?
I upgraded my laptop from 6.2 to 6.3, but now I regret it. 6.2 uses the 2.2.10 kernel and 6.3 uses 2.2.13.
Of course I chose the APM kernel, just like with 6.2, but! then it hangs during startup, when trying to load PCMCIA modules (i82365.o) :-( The same module works fine in 2.2.10. Why this problem?
I have to choose the ordinary kernel, but then I can't close it; if I do, it will hang :-( And it doesn't automatically turn off the power when shut down.
Did anybody else experience this? What can I do?
