* Chris Large (clarge@macn.bc.ca) [20000205 23:45]: Chris,
That is in there and i even commented that line right out.
If you comment it out, it of cause won't do anything.
The cleanest way for 6.3 is:
- don't compile scsi support into kernel, i.e. use a standard SuSE kernel.
- add 'initrd=/boot/initrd' to the global section of /etc/lilo.conf
- add "aic7xxx" to the INITRD_MODULES = entry in /etc/rc.config
- call 'mkinitrd'
- call 'lilo'
next time you boot, all should be well.
Ahhh, I just had an insight. If you're using 6.3 and after install compiled
your own kernel, make sure that aic7xxx is *not* in INITRD_MODULES. If it
is, remove it and then run mkinitrd afterwards. It will detect that no
modules need to be loaded from the initial ramdisk and will delete the
initrd. Finish this off with calling lilo and your kernel with builtin SCSI
support should boot without problems.
Please give me feedback as it seems that maybe an SDB article is needed for
such problems.
