I do not know (probably like you) wether it's wise to set everything you got on an OS that is said to be "the best Windows ever" and use one week spot in Linux to declare Linux "unuseable". The price for just one W2K license will easy buy you a SCSII scanner. I am not so convinced that USB will run so easy on W2K in every respect. And what comes on top of it is that -as experianced with NT4- it will take some more time to get W2K acceptable working after the initial release (as with NT4SP3), so play for time. But I am interested in the outcome of this thread, I knew to less about USB to make by own picture, gut I belive USB support is part of the future. Juergen
Hi eveyrone.
OK Our change to SuSE Linux debate comes up on 14 02 99 and depends upon the scanner support for USB. I cannot justify a move to Linux without some serious support for scanning. We run a photo studio and gimp has been a godsend for our justification in front of photoshop for an upgrade to Linux. SCSI no. Our team have decided (I think correctly) that USB be our upgrade path.
With windows 2000 just weeks away here in Spain, I'm 'just' wondering opon the possibility of a 2.3.x demonstration of USB that works for any named scanner by you good folk. Anything would be appreciated.
Best wishes from all at FeF, Spain.
