Why is it that when I invoke a /sbin/rc.d sysV script with the restart argument, the service stops but fails to start? I've had this problem with quite a few services. For example foomanchu:/etc/rc.d # ./nscd status Checking for Name Service Cache Daemon: OK foomanchu:/etc/rc.d # ./nscd restart Shutting down Name Service Cache Daemon done Starting Name Service Cache Daemon failed However ./nscd start; ./nscd stop works perfectly fine. -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
