Hello,
I've got two little questions. The SCSI question was addressed here recently but I can't find the info in my saved messages.
1) I have an Adaptec 2940W and I've put "alias scsi_hostadapter aic7xxx" in /etc/modules.conf. I don't boot from a SCSI disk but I would still like the SCSI modules loaded at startup which it doesn't do now. I've got to do a modprobe aic7xxx. What else do I need to do to achieve this?
You don't need to. The new modutils do it automatigically. If you *insist* on hogging ram with an unecessary driver, you should insert a line in /sbin/init.d/boot.local that reads:
/sbin/modprobe aic7xxx
That's what I thought but when I try to access /dev/st0 it gives me a "no such device" error. If I modprobe it, then I am able to access the tape drive. Am I doing something wrong? I used dump to access the tape drive.
