Roeland,
Are you implying by your suggestion that the
problem is the partition sizes? How do you separate
WinNT boot files from the rest of its installed files?
My partitions were not much different. I had 1Gb NT
primary partition, the rest were logical drives in the
extended partition, including the root, swap, var,
home and usr partitions. Can you give further
clarification on your setup?
Thanks for the info,
Stuart

My suggestion would be:
create three partitions, i.e. one primary and one extended with at least two logical partitions, the primary would be fat16, appr. 25 mb or less, holding the NT boot files. The second (first logical) partition would contain the linux files (= converted to linux)and the third would be win NT. I would use LILO to dualboot, not the NT dualboot. This way, you will not have problems with a too large harddisk for linux taste. 6.3 with Yast2 will install beautifully on the first logical partition without worries about / , swap etc partitions. May not be perfect, but works.
regards,
Roeland

Folks,
Has any one successfully installed SuSE Linux 6.3 and WinNT on the same hard drive? I followed the instructions with the SuSE manual and read the documents in the help docs. I first partition and install Win NT on the 1st 1 Gb partition of a 13Gb drive. I created additional 3.5 and 2.5 Gb FAT partitions all within the 1024 cylinder limit. When I attempt to even create new partitions with Linux and test booting with Win NT, NT fails to boot and displays a register dump. If I then remove the Linux partitions using the Linux install menus, NT will start ok on the next reboot. I can't remember, but it does not seem to matter if the partitions I create with Linux are DOS or ext2. Does anyone have experience with this. Do I possibly need service pack, etc for WinNT.
Thanks,
Stuart
