It is done, the LinBox (192.168.0.5), the win98 box (192.168.0.1) and the notebook (192.168.0.8) DHCP is set to OFF.
Considering you only have three machines why not just give them all static IPs? If you do no need for DHCP.
Ping from the LinBox to the outside world is fine, ping to the winbox and notebook are ok (both/three ways) but no go when ping from the winbox or notebook to the outside world. The /etc/rc.d is not right, it appeared as /etc~rc.d? is this normal??
Are you saying the linux box can ping but the clients can't? If so can you ping by IP#? Or by name? Can you ping from the clients 205.188.247.193 [ftp.netscape.com]? Or do you mean you can't ping at all. When you say you activated IP-Masq what do you mean? Did you turn it on in Yast? If so that only applies after the next time you reboot. Go to /etc/rc.d/masquerade and tell it to start.
I do a /etc/rd.d/masquerade status and got the message: IP Masquerading entries (nothing, just blank) And I missing some setting and where and what should I do now?
I'm not sure exactly what you're asking so ask again if any of the things I've suggested didn't help. Other things to do. With the windows machine setup the DNS numbers. Make sure /etc/resolv.conf is right on the linux box.
The /etc/resolv.conf is empty? is this the problem?(I think so) Thanks Nick, any 'simple' documentation where I can refer to?
