Hi, I'm unclear on this point. His client eth0 shows 192.168.1.3, while his gateway eth0 shows 194.165.253.43 Doesn't something have to be done with route to pass data from one network to another? About a failing nic, won't problems with irq's etc show up in /var/log/messages or dmesg upon boot? tia teve. ------------------------------------------- Steven Pauly (281) 496-8041 Houston, Tx stevep@brokersys.com stevep@linux-shell.net SuSE Linux 6.3 2.2.14 (cp /dev/null microsoft) -------------------------------------------- On Sun, 23 Jan 2000, the webster wrote:

Can you send an ifconfig of both machines?
I have tried alot of stuff now.. I have tried editing lilo.conf adding append="9,210,eth0" because in windows the card has irq 9 and io 210 (it has io 300 and irq 10 in linux) but without sucess.. i have tried pinging the machine from the gateway, no sucess their either.. im thinking about trading this card for a NE2000.. :/
This is over the box with no net connection (yet, i hope):
ifconfig eth0 eth Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:10:5A:53:05:1D inet addr:192.168.1.3 Bcast:192.168.1.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame0 TX packets:6 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:100 Interrupt:10 Baseadress:0x300
And this is over the gateway:
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 40:01:00:00:22:D3 inet addr:194.165.253.43 Bcast:194.165.253.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:2553805 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:1 TX packets:2755266 errors:8 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:8 collisions:125551 txqueuelen:100 Interrupt:3 Base address:0x300
