I would like to use tar to backup part of my system to DAT. But the command line is getting very long, very fast. Is there a way to put the list of files and sub's that you want to tar up into a file and have tar read that file to find what it is to include?
You can use the -T option for that, e.g. tar -T filelist.txt -cf archive.tar will tar up every file in filelist.txt.
