IMHO the trouble is not sound, but a SCSI controler (NCR5380). I donŽt know how can you get this just removing sound configuration. Try using 'make menuconfig' again.

Since when does one have to recompile the kernel to get sound? RedHat 4.2? "BS" (Befor SuSE?) What kinda sound card do you have?

Hi Everyone,.
Im trying to make a new kernel to support my sound card. It had so far failed to do this at all, so I removed the sound card configuration in an attempt to fix the problem. However, I am
still unable
to make a kernel.
If I compile the original config file then it works, so I assume that there is something wrong with the settings, but what?
The error list below:
init/main.o(.data+0xf0): undefined reference to 'scsi_luns_setup' init/main.o(.data+0xf8): undefined reference to 'st_setup' init/main.o(.data+0f100): undefined reference to 'generic_NCR5380_setup' init/main.o(.data+0x108): undefined reference to 'generic_NCR53C400_seup' init/main.o(.data+0x110): undefined reference to 'ncr53c8xx_setup' fs/fs.o: In function 'sys_setup': fs/fs.o(.text+0xd4ed): undefined reference to 'init_smb_fs' drivers/block/block.a(genhd.o): In function 'device_setup': genhd.o(.text+0x7a1): undefined reference to 'scsi_dev_init' make: *** [vmlinux] Error 1
Ive read through the HOWTO and looked a acouple of other "newbie help files" but I dont have a clue what's causing my problems. Id appreciate it if someone could please help me out. Im running SuSE 6.0
