Hi, I bet you have a new (version 2.0) of LNE100TX. You need atleast version 0.91g of tulip driver. Kernels prior to 2.2.14 included an ancient verion of tulip.c which didn't work with these cards. Either get the new driver or use 2.2.14. I don't know about D-Link though. Nadeem "Mac Q. Flores IV" wrote:
i have 2 systems and i can't seem to get the NICs of these two working. the first one has a D-Link DE-220 (ISA). the ethernet-how-to lits this as being supported and suggests the ne module w/c i've compiled in the kernel. the second machine has a linksys LE100tx (PCI) which again the ethernet-how-to lists as being supported and suggests the tulip module. upon compilation of the kernels and "integration of the hardware into the system" using yast, i get the same errors "device or resource busy" during boot time then a final "eth0 is not an interface" error.
my compilation routine is as follows (stock kernel 2.2.10, SuSE 6.2):
make mrproper make xconfig make dep clean bzImage make modules make modules_install bzImage --> vmlinuz update System.map /sbin/lilo
is there anything i'm forgetting? i understand it if i only get an error in one machine but since i get a similar error on both machines woth different NICs and computers, there seems to be something amiss in my configuration routine.
any thoughts?
