Additional info:
1) Installed from CDs: linux, linclude, lx_suse and other packages.
I've noticed that some of the kernel patches and source from the mirrors have been getting corrupted. Try to get the standard kernel from kernel.org and see if it compiles better. The 2.2.13 source has compiled well for me.
