Michael, I would suggest getting the man page rpm from Redhat's site and extracting what you need and install it from there. I have a book called A Student's Guide to Unix which has a good description of Tar. Tar in any Unix OS works pretty much the same. So if you find the commands and such from another Unix OS such as Solaris..you can use this info. There are ways to get what you need... :) just my 0.02
RedHat and Turbo have "man tar" Sounds like BS to me.
