I have ahd two crashes lately in KDE. The display locks up and i can't do anything. Nor ctrl-alt-bksp nor ctrl-alt-del do anything, not does trying another console.
Any idea what's up with this?
Any suggestions for ways to break out of it.

Bob, Curious... what app were you running on top of KDE when the crashes occured? In my own experience crashes in KDE 1.0+ are probably due to Xserver config problems. JLK
I had a few recent crashes as well. Playing the solitair card games (napoleons tomb) in KDE. Something graped all memory and cache. If it's progressing to fast nothing will help. If the system locks up, it's "press reset" time. ;-( I just read about "magic keys", or rather magic_sysreq_key, a kernel option, more described in /usr/src/linux/Documentation/sysreq.txt. Didn't have the time to check / test it yet, but it might be worth to look at. The option is found in the "Kernel Hacking" section of the kernel configuration.
