Dear Robert.
After installing 13.1 on a netbook I am getting some startup weirdness in that lightdm is not started :(
I can get to a VT Ctrl-Alt-F_ and I checked /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager, it is set to lightdm.
Default run level is set to 5.
systemd starts Xorg, at least according to the message in verbose boot.
The symptom is that the box just sits there after the last systemd message and nothing happens.
This is a known bug.
Thanks, still weird, considering that I have not been hit by this and I have 5 other machines using lightdm and XFCE, including anothre netbook, i.e. 32 bit.
It seems to be a race condition,
Yes, I'd go along with that, given the problem only occurs on 1 of 5 systems with basically the same setup. The system with the problem is the "slowest", i.e. weakest processing power. I haven't been able to reproduce
myself but for some people it seems to happen every time. Unfortunately there are a lot of moving parts involved, lightdm, systemd, X, and our xdm init script which makes it difficult to debug.
You might want to take a look at the ML archive.
Will do.
Found the bug and added myself. Looks like you already have all the debug output you need.
Since I haven't gotten any more hints from the lightdm list I'll open an upstream bug.
If there is any debugging I can help with let me know.
