I would put firewall as separate tab in this group (Network Settings), instead in some other place as it is now.
I don't agree with this. Firewall is completely separate configuration module with another purpose (don't forget KISS rule - keep it stupid, simple)
Firewall has no meaning outside network. If it would be in the place with other network settings than it would be real KISS: - for the guys that are trying to explain new and old users what to do. You have to tell only:"Now check Firewall tab." instead of: "Close Network settings and go [1-2-3] and check Firewall." - for new users because it will tell them that firewall is part of network settings and many will guess that they have to do something there if network has problems. I guess that this plus more elaborate help packed under "Help" button, will reduce number of confused users asking what to do.
It would be good for multiple network devices in one computer to have ability to turn device off/on like once before was possible with column Active. Check that column will activate device, uncheck will deactivate (unload drivers etc). This would be great help in case of problems.
You mean STARTMODE=off? We have option for this.
Well, I would like to see how that looks on mockup. I can't locate version, but YaST had table with listed devices, like the one in this example, and one column was called Active. If I wanted to use some network device I would put X (or toggle yes/no, I can't recall anymore) in a column, and YaST would enable or disable that device on exit from network module. STARTMODE=off doesn't sound clear here out of the context, so I really have to see mockup.
Network device settings - General Settings -- MTU deserves some explanation considering DSL that uses smaller MTU than 1500, to help users if they experience problems.
You're right. It would be great if you create bugzilla report for this. Could you?
Hmm. (confused) I can file enhancement report, if this mail isn't enough. I guess it isn't, otherwise you wouldn't ask. ...
-- Additional Addresses What would be that? Already configured or something else.
More IP addresses for same interface.
Instead of "simple" Additional Addresses that confused me, whole sentence: "Add more IP addresses to this interface" will tell everything, almost no need for help file. -- Regards, Rajko. http://en.opensuse.org/Portal -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-usability+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-usability+help@opensuse.org
