Removing & symbols completely would render these strings as invalid. I'd recommend to add it in parenthesis with a letter, for example:

So my question is: How can I update the Arabic translation? There was a website (vertaal.tk) a few months ago, but seems no longer to work.

You can use SVN directly. If wanted we can grant you commit access.
