With update did you mean send the required changes for openSuse upstream to include them in the new iso-*translations in the Free Translation Project?? I say this because in the galician translation team we are discussing about where to translate this strings and translate only on the TP and using these translations for translating the distros will probably be the better solution for avoid do the translation three or four times.

I saw countries and languages names in more po files.

Our default way is, to store the strings in the memory files (in the 50-memory directory) and make use of them while merging. Some teams do not like this approach because it is inherently a tad dangerous for short messages (you do not know whether the term "print" is a noun or a verb).

I'm now convinced every team will find its own way. Of course, if possible I'd support them and, probably more important, teams are encouraged to share their "tricks" with other teams.

The use of translation memories is good if you put the suggested translations as fuzzy, because if you put them as translated you could have a lot of translated strings, but only a few will have really good enough translations...
