why not just use the ssh trusted keys?

mybox$ cd ~/.ssh
mybox$ ssh-keygen -t dsa -b 1024 -P '' -f id_dsa
mybox$ scp user@otherbox:.ssh/authorized_keys

The scp will ask for your password. After that, you can ssh, scp or
whatever without typing the password.
