Greetings. In Sun Solaris, there's a data-collector tool called Explorer that queries a Sun box & generates tons of technical info about it in text format, which is very useful for troubleshooting & documentation. Is there an equivalent tool for SuSE Linux, or for Linux in general? Any info you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
Try siga ...You will probably need to install siga.rpm from your media or from ftp.suse.com SIGA stands for System Information GAthering. It collects various system information and outputs it in HTML or ASCII format. Since it needs root permissions, you will be asked for the root password. It is very handy as an information source during installation support phone calls. -- Warren Stockton mailto:wns@sisna.com
