SuSE use the version 0.7.5 (drbd-0.7.5-0.13.i586.rpm), 6 versions older than the current one 0.7.11, which one you prefer ?
I prefer the version which works for me, the version I have tested thouroughly and the version which is maintained, tested and packaged from my vendor. In this case, I can always apply security fixes, even if I don't have so much time for that.
I admit that it is quite "cool" to have always the latest and greatest version, but in a production environment, I prefer to stick with the shipped versions. It's more stable and less work.
see http://svn.drbd.org/drbd/branches/drbd-0.7/ChangeLog I am not sure which exact svn version the suse 0.7.5-something corresponsd to ("strings drbd.ko | grep SVN" might tell you), and which of the changes are incorporated already... btw, suse 9.3 users: I certainly do not recommend the shipped drbd-0.8-something, that is at best a development snapshot, and not fit for production usage. cheers, -- : Lars Ellenberg Tel +43-1-8178292-0 : : LINBIT Information Technologies GmbH Fax +43-1-8178292-82 : : Schoenbrunner Str. 244, A-1120 Vienna/Europe http://www.linbit.com :
