but are there any free firewalls for Linux for download? i googled and searched threw downloads.com and such and didnt find a thing, if anyone could recommend a few that would be great snip .. chances are your system is already able to work as a firewall. If you have a newer SuSE distro, check if "iptables" is installed, if your distro is older, it could be "ipchains". With each one you can build a firewall, you just have to give them the commands what packets to filter. To ease the creation of the commands, there are tools, some of them fwbuilder (www.fwbuilder.org) or the firewall
