Hello list, here are two SuSE i386 8.0 Pro boxes sending a bunch of packets to the standard-gateway when the machines are booted. The destination ports of the packets are first 3185 and then 53163. The sending is repeated some times and then the PCs are quiet. I noticed that behaviour because the packets are dropped by the NAT firewall everytime. What could that be? - I didn't find any suspicious processes. The only hint I found was that the SuSE Meta PPP Daemon (smpppd) is using port 53163 and 3185, but according /sbin/chkconfig smpppd is turned off! There is also no link in a rc-directory and no process. And another box also running SuSE 8.0 with installed smpppd does not show that behaviour. -- Eat, sleep and go running, David Huecking.
